Intake Process
Kindred Souls Foundation works to find stray and owner relinquished animals new
forever homes. Stray animals should always be scanned for a microchip
prior to contacting a rescue group for help. Any veterinarian will scan an
animal for free and contact the appropriate agency if a chip is found.
Since we are not a shelter facility, we cannot take emergency cases (i.e.,
animals who are in need of immediate medical attention OR animals in need
of immediate shelter). We do not provide financial assistance.
If you need help with feral cats, please contact Feral Cat Trapping & Assistance
at (206) 427-6454 or the Feral Cat Project at (425)
673-CATS.
Stray Cats and Dogs: Our foster homes are currently full. If you are
contacting us regarding a stray animal, we are only able to assist you if you
can foster the animal until he/she is placed in his/her forever home.
Owner Relinquished Cats and Dogs: If you are an owner wanting to
relinquish your animal companion, we are only able to help you if you continue
to care for him/her until he/she is placed in a forever home. We require owner
relinquished animals to have had a Well Pet Exam within the last six months
(animals over the age of 8 yrs must have a Senior Blood Panel), be
spayed/neutered, and be current on vaccines (cats- FVRCP and Rabies; dogs- DHPP
and Rabies).
Please do not submit an Intake Packet if you do not have someone identified to
care for the animal while we look for a permanent home. Again, we are not a
shelter facility and our current foster homes are full.
Complete
an Intake Form
Download and complete the appropriate intake form. If you have found a
stray, we still need you to complete the form to the best of your ability. The
more information we have, the better able we are to determine if we have an
appropriate foster home available.

Follow up to mailing in the packet by emailing or calling us to let us know you
have sent it in. Our mail is not retrieved on a daily basis, so if we do not
know that the packet is coming it may take longer for it to reach the
appropriate person. If we know that it is coming, we will ensure the Intake Team receives
it in a timely manner.

Photos
When
you email to let us know that the packet is coming, attach digital photos
(minimum 300dpi at a 4x3 size). You may also mail us a CD of photos, but do not
mail us standard paper photos as they do not scan well enough to use. Include at
least one picture of the animal's face and one of the full body.
The photos will be used to send in an email alert to all of our
members to help generate immediate feedback on possible leads for placement.
Adoptive homes are profiled to accept animals of specific
requirements (i.e., size, weight, and hair/fur type), so we need to assess this
early on.
Intake Review
Once we have reviewed your complete Intake Packet (intake form, medical
records, digital pictures) we will contact you to let you know how we are able
to assist.
